Grant
2010 Good Idea Grant
Crystal Cawley is the recipient of a 2010 Good Idea Grant from the Maine Arts Commission. She will be using the funds to go to the Hamilton Wood Type Museum in Two Rivers, Wisconsin for a week this spring. Hamilton has the largest collection of wood type available for use in the country, and the museum also houses a working print shop that is open to artists who want to print letterpress editions or special projects. Some of Hamilton’s type is twenty-four inches tall, and they have a press that prints up to 40 x 60 inches. Ms. Cawley will be printing large sheets of handmade Asian papers to be used for a new body of work that is inspired by old clothing and embroidery.
